EDUCATION MOVING UP (EMU) is a close corporation managed by Dr Muavia Gallie (PhD), an education activist who has been working in the sector for more than twenty-seven years. His contribution and experience has been as classroom teacher, head of department, principal, university lecturer, education consultant, change leadership and motivational speaker, ethical and professional developer, ministerial committee advisor, education policy developer, and turn-around strategist. Dr Gallie registered EMU at the beginning of 2008, soon after he relinquished his position as the head of operations, human resources and information and communication technology of the South African Council for Educators (SACE), a position that he held for seven years. Since then, he has designed the innovative Executive Leadership Programme for the University of Pretoria, has consulted for the Matthew Goniwe School of Leadership and Governance, and recently been an extra-ordinary senior lecturer at the University of Pretoria. He is currently consulting for UNICEF (Ethiopia), Commonwealth Secretariat (London), Sasol Inzalo Foundation, and numerous other educational organisations and structures. Dr Gallie has recently taught part-time to final year students at the Tshwane University of Technology, and he is continuing to perform numerous research, evaluation and review activities to Masters and Doctoral students from different universities.
