Vision & Mission
EMU has identified the need to deliver quality project management services within the education sector, in order to improve the quality of teaching and learning in all schools. It is believed that apart from the activities at classroom level, all other functions and activities at school, district, regional, provincial and national level should be in support of the main project and focus of education, meaning teaching and learning in the classrooms. Our aim is to support the quality improvement of project management at all levels (district, school and learning) as displayed in the three focus areas of our business. The quality improvement approach will focus on five stages in the project management process, namely Case Analysis, Input, Process, Output and Impact of the projects.
All these projects have to have the intention to improve the quality of teaching and learning in our schools, especially in poor communities. This commitment stems from the consistent and data-proven display by Dr Gallie that the education system in South Africa is currently only 8,1% successful (based on 2005 data from EMIS). This figure means that only 1 out of 12 learners, starting Grade 1 ends up with what the education is promising our learners when they start their schooling. Within such a low level of success, we can only ‘move up’ our education system to the heights and quality that all our learners deserve to get in every school in the country, irrespective of the location, economic status or level of employment of the community.
